a listed update.

1. i enjoy fireworks. there were a bunch going off tonight at the country club next to my subdivision and i pulled over on my street to watch from my car. how do they get them to do make those shapes, anyway?

2. i realize i like making lists about my life. i found a few in a journal a bunch of months back from a breakup about a year-ish ago: "Things to be sorry for", "Things never to be sorry for" and "Things not to forget". they were really good lists - i was impressed with myself. i recently decided i was on my way to health and happiness when i realized all recent lists regarding the same person were forgotten. a new list was started - one with positives and negatives, in an attempt to figure out where i'm at right now. it has only sort of worked.

3. i waitressed my last day today for a while. hooray!

4. i start teaching on monday. i was completely fine with the idea until i woke up today. suddenly my breath caught in my chest and i got nervous. like, very nervous. how will i not laugh at inappropriate jokes? like andrew asked me, can i reprimand students truely meaning it? without being amused?

5. i had lunch today with a friend i worked my first job with eight years ago. he is married now, has a real job, but has always been a really good friend. it was genuinely nice to catch up, eat some enchiladas, and sit.

6. i went to the kenosha outlet a few days ago. bought some great clothes and opened a credit card. was asked, when entering the dressing room with andrew, if we would like one room or two. excuse me? i didn't even think it was legal to use one room. we both laughed, answered 'two please', and told the guy that the other had cooties.

7. i wish i didn't have to get up so early everyday... and that i didn't have so much to do tomorrow. procrastination... not a great idea when i need to actually appear to be knowledgable on the subject of literature in front of seniors.

8. i found a pile of letters from senior retreat a couple of nights ago. they make me sound like a really nice and entertaining person, one that people actually wanted to be around, and i hope to one day show them to my kids. [no, i don't care how lame this number sounds.]

9. my boss encouraged me today to sleep around. i'm 85% she was serious. "you're only young once lauren. let dan [the bartender] take you home." i replied with, "mardi, i'm going to tell my dad [a friend slash regular] you are encouraging me to become a slut." "if you do that, i will tell him about the time you made out with a boy in a bar's unisex bathroom." touche, mardi. touche.

10. i thoroughly enjoy the people in my life at the moment. i have managed to surround myself with very quality individuals, and i should thank them more often for being so fabulous.
